LaChappelle: Bass, Billy Hart: Drums, Bill Goodwin:
Drums, and Jonathan Graham: Guitar. *********************************** OTHER
NEWS ENJA Records will
also be releasing a reissue of my trio album
"Dreamsville" recorded with "The High G's" Bill Goodwin
and Steve Gilmore. *********************************** The live
concert/recording project with bassist Reggie Workman
& Rashid Ali at William Paterson College's Jazz Room
Series has been rescheduled for Sunday afternoon,
February 17, 2008. *********************************** I'm sure you've all
heard about the passing of jazz great,, trumpeter and
master educator, Herb Pomeroy. Herb was a mentor of many
young students over the decades including myself.
I had the good
fortune to spend my formative years under his tutalage
aat Berklee, and later, while playing in his big band and
small group at Boston's premier jazz club "The Stables."
His impact on whatever musical abilities I possess is
incalculable. I owe him a debt of gratitude I feel can
never be repaid. A loss for the
world, his legacy lives on within those who knew
him. ********************************** Alfred plans to
raise the price somewhat but, if I can figure out the
technology, I'll be putting an e-book version up on my
Forward Motion site for download at a reduced
price. ORGANIZING YOUR

***************************************** TOURING
UPDATES Last spring's trio
tour of the Northwest went great. Two highlights were our
gigs at Seattle's "Tula's," a jazz club in the grand
tradition; and "LV's in Portland. OR. Created and ably
managed by pianist Darrell Grant of Portland State
University. (Click
for Jim Corcoran's
review)
Darrell was, as usual, a most gracious host. It was great
fun to play with John Bishop and Jeff Johnson. As you
know, Jeff was an intergral member of my trio for six
years in the 90's. Getting together with him again was
pure joy. *********************************** As promised, I'm
back in the saddle again booking trio gigs throughout the
upcoming months. Check out my itinerary on my home page
at halgalper.com.
So far we're
playing every month through February '08 and working on
the following months as well. If you've got the time,
check in on my itinerary for updates on when I might be
coming your way. ************************************ Till next time, Hal
Galper

first solo album, was recorded originally on Mainstream
Records in 1970 with Mike & Randy Brecker just after
Mike left the University of Illinois for NYC. Other
